Get To Know Us

We are John and Jessica Kellat and we live in Jacksonville, FL. We are devoted parents to two amazing children. Both of us are Florida natives and we have a passion for all things nature.
John has been professionally landscaping for roughly a decade and a half. Jessica has a strong background in arboriculture introduced to her by her father.
We enjoy exploring Florida's parks and recreational areas as well as camping and enjoying the springs.
Because of our strong love for nature and Florida's ecosystem, we decided to do something! While enjoying a family trip to a county park, we had the idea to add a butterfly garden to an empty spot along the exercise trail. We thought this would not only add a little beauty and give back to the community, but also give back to nature and our local pollinators. We initially reached out to the director of the City of Jacksonville's Parks and Recreation, who then forwarded the email to the project and grant coordinator. As a personal goal we solely took on the financial responsibility of this project and went through the tedious task of locating several Duval county native species. With our first big give back to the community we have decided we want to start a nonprofit organization that is devoted to sharing education on native species and our horticultural range. As well as, repopulating our ecosystem with native species of pollinators in general. In addition, saving the endangered monarch butterflies!
